To all it may concern;
I am 65 years old and I did not learn to swim as a child. Two years ago I took swimming lessons at the Family Y in Rutland. They provided a private instructor who made it easy to learn.
Once I felt comfortable in the water I was invited to swim with the Wine Country Masters Swim Club which meets regularly at that facility. I joined them three mornings most weeks. On July 18th of this year I completed the Across the Lake Swim of 2.1 km in under 52 minutes. I am proud of my accomplishment but mostly I am grateful to the people who taught me to swim and encouraged me to practice.
The Family Y is a wonderful facility. The people are friendly and provide assistance at every step of the learning process. It is without a doubt the best deal in the valley and I encourage everyone to check it out and become a member.
The Masters Swim Club is a marvelous organization. These people are accomplished swimmers and most having been swimming since childhood. Yet they were patient and kind and welcomed me to their group. I can’t think of a better way to learn a new activity than to practice in the company of experts.
In closing I would like to say a sincere thank you to the people who helped me learn to swim. There were many of you and I am grateful for your encouragement.
Sincerely,
Janet
