Nanaimo Ebbtides Swim Meet ReportPosted: February 3, 2016
Now that the waters have calmed on a great day in the pool, we can look back on the successes that we had for the 35th Annual Nanaimo Ebbtides Swim Meet.
To put this meet, we had 67 volunteer positions to fill including our office folks, officials, chili cooks, kitchen crew, drivers and many others; this is no small feat for a team of less than 40 members! This year we hosted 109 swimmers from 18 clubs all over the province as well as a few from Alberta and Ontario with our oldest swimmer being 79 and our youngest swimmer being 22.
Records have now been tallied and we can say that we had 10 BC records, 1 national record and 1 world record set! A huge “congratulations” goes to Avila Rhodes of the Victoria Masters for her new world record in the women’s 60-64 age group for the 100 breast with a time of 1:26.35.
As always, the Ebbtides enjoyed hosting all of the swimmers, coaches and fans that joined us for the meet. We hope to see you all again next year!
